Day 301: I found my mojo in the rain

Today has been a fantastic day so far and I plan to continue it right up until I go to bed tonight. 🙂

It’s not even five o’clock yet and I have accomplished so much today that it feels really good. I have so much more that I want to get done today that I’m not stopping.

One of the things on my to do list today is create a Thank You card, and I have one done for today. It’s inspired by two things: 1. a design and 2. balloons.

In the design I saw on Pinterest, I was drawn to the color palate and layout of the triangle shapes, and then I got distracted by a smaller picture of black and white striped balloons. I have never seen black and white striped balloons in my life, and I got sucked into the photos. So, what did I do when I was caught between two designs? I turned them into one Thank You Card design.

Here is my funky creation. Guess you’ll have to stay tuned in and see what I come up with tomorrow.

Day 300: Go back to the inspiration board

I wasn’t feeling very creative today until I went back and looked at my inspiration boards on Pinterest.

I’m addicted to Pinterest!

I have found the most tasting recipes on that website, and I keep looking for new ones. Wait…I’m getting off topic.

Ok, a while ago I created an inspiration board on Pinterest with photos of items that I was attracted to. I found everything from a vintage powder blue oven to a silver painted repurposed dress to an aquarium kitchen sink. How cool would it be to have an aquarium as a kitchen sink? I think it would look awesome and inspirational in my kitchen. Anyhow, on my inspiration board I found a picture of a green and white wing chair and was drawn to it because of the color palate and pattern.

So, I recreated it as a Thank You card for today.

Here it is!

Day 299: The end is getting closer

Every day it gets closer to the end of this design challenge.

I can’t wait because I’m ready to be finished with it. I need to focus my creative energy elsewhere.

In the meantime, here is today’s card which is inspired by branding.

Day 298: Transition periods are interesting

Transition periods are interesting in the sense that you’re about to leave the comfort of the place you’re in for something completely different, but you’re not entirely sure where and when.

Right now, our weather is in a transition period.

Yesterday it was an Indian summer with sunny 80 degree weather, and today it’s in the mid-70s with rain and wind. By the end of the week, it will be in the 40s and continue getting colder as winter approaches. I’m really not prepared for this transition, nor do I like it by any means.

My life feels like it’s in a transition period, but I just don’t know where it’s going and when it will end. This card series is in a transition period as the design challenge is slowly coming to the end day-by-day, and I have no idea what I’m going to create for the remaining cards or what will inspire me.

Transition periods can be great, or they can suck big time depending on where you end up. I think my transition period will end on a high note, but I’m not holding my breath by any means. So instead, I’m focusing my energy on this design challenge which brings me to today’s design that is inspired by another designer.

I loved the color palate that was used and the simplicity of the design with the leaves. I tried to create the same look into a Thank You, but my results were not as good as the designer’s original work. The designer’s work looks like it was done by hand, maybe as a watercolor painting while my design was created in Illustrator.

So, here is today’s design. Let me know what you think.

Day 297: The days are getting shorter

Today we had an Indian summer here all while the leaves were turning beautiful shades of red, orange, yellow and brown.

By the end of the week, the temperature around here will be half of what is was today, daylight savings gives us an extra hour of sleep but robs us of more sunshine, and I’ll be that much closer to finishing this design challenge.

I have exactly 65 days left! 🙂

It’s not that I haven’t had fun with this design challenge, but I’m ready to spend time doing something else. I’m just not sure what yet.

Anyhow, today’s card is inspired by another designer. The design reminded me of a mix between Pop Art and a newspaper printing.

Alright, I’m too tired to say anything else about my card so here it is.

Day 296: Stay focused on the task at hand

Distractions come in a variety of forms, and sometimes it can be difficult to focus on the task at hand.

For instance, I’ve got a little bit of a tummy ache right now, but I needed to create a Thank You card for today.

However, I didn’t give up, but focused on just getting a card done so I can get some rest and feel better in the morning.

Here is my card, and now I’m going to bed. Good Night.

Day 295: Find the energy to muddle through the day

All I wanted to do today was sleep. I’m tired. I was out early this morning taking care of some business, and when I came home, all I wanted to do was take a nap on the couch.

Unfortunately, I had to work this evening and I forced myself not to take a nap so I wouldn’t oversleep or be too tired to work.

Anyhow, you probably don’t want to hear about my boring life today. So, I’ll just post today’s card which is inspired by a logo.

Here it is.

Day 294: Get outside and see the world

I did not, I repeat, I did not forgot to create a card yesterday.

After nine hours with no food in my body, I became pale, sick and gotten a horrible headache. When I finally had a chance to eat something, I did feel a little better, but my body had gotten so tired that I had to cancel my evening plans. I was in bed at 7:30 p.m., and way too tired to design a card.

I woke up feeling much better, and the headache was gone. So, today I spent some time outside and experienced the beautiful warm weather and saw the trees covered in leaves changing colors. There were lots of trees that still had green leaves on them, but many trees had leaves that turned shades of red, orange and yellow. You should have seen some of trees with yellow leaves. They were gorgeous! That’s probably the best part about fall I enjoy. After that, it’s all downhill.

So, I have two cards to share with you today. The first is from yesterday and it’s inspired by branding, and today’s card is an abstract inspired by fall.

I hope you like them.

Day 292: Find something positive to get you moving

I was reading an online article and the writer talked about three ways they earned extra income.

Afterwards, I was inspired to do something very similar for myself. I’m not going to share my idea, but I want to see how it turns out first. So, you’ll just have to wait until I announce the news, if I ever do.

Anyhow, I’m still hungry and tired today, but not as bad as the last two days. Dinner’s in the oven right now, so I’ll be a happy person in about 20 minutes! 🙂

Okay, okay…I’ll show you the Thank You card now that is inspired by packaging. There was this cool picture showing gray and white packaging that I really liked, and I turned the design into a card.

Here it is.
