Day 331: Let the countdown begin

Starting tomorrow, I have 31 days left of this Thank You Card Design Challenge and I’m ready for it to end.

I’ve had a good time creating Thank You cards, but I need a break and something different to do.

Today’s card is inspired by a branding board because I was drawn to the sea foam, black, gray and white color palate. Surprisingly, I had the font that was used in their logo and used it in today’s card. I keep the design clean and very pastel like.

Here it is.

Day 330: Not fully recovered from Black Friday

I still have not fully recovered from Black Friday because I’m working all weekend, and my day off isn’t until Wednesday.

So, I am exhausted and ready for bed.

However, I did want to share with you today’s Thank You card which is inspired by a moon design artwork.

Good Night.

Day 329: Black Friday kicked my butt

I am physically exhausted from Black Friday, and I didn’t even go shopping.

I went grocery shopping this morning, but that doesn’t count.

Today is the busiest shopping day of the year, and I had to work.

We weren’t as busy as I expected the store to be, but I think we’ll get a rush of shoppers over the weekend. However, I was busy and ended up getting off of work one hour later.

I left work physically tired. I have never felt that way before.

So before I crash on the couch in front of the T.V. because I am too tired to do anything else, I wanted to make sure that I created a Thank You card. It’s inspired by Black Friday.

Good Night.

Day 328: A day off equals a slow start

Today is Thanksgiving, and that means I don’t have to work!!! Wooo Hooo!!! 🙂

So, I took advantage of my day off and slept in. I didn’t get up until 12:15 p.m., and it felt great!

I am NOT a morning person by any means. If you don’t believe, just ask my parents.

Even though I get up almost every day at 7:00 a.m., you would think my body would be used to getting up early and adjust.

You are so wrong! Night owls will never be morning people, so don’t try to force us to become them. Creatives are creatures of habit and we function better working with a lot of background noise (either T.V. blaring from the living or jamming to our favorite radio stations on Pandora), and usually wake up around 2:00 p.m..

My creativity usually peaks around 4:00 p.m., and if needed, I can keep going until 2:00 a.m.. I am a night owl, so don’t wake me up!

Anyhow, I have some things to get done before I head out later, so let’s move onto today’s card which is inspired by an email newsletter.

I wasn’t in the mood to create another Thank You card chalk board drawing design today. I felt like I needed some color today, so I started looking at Pinterest for some colorful ideas and stumbled onto an email newsletter that caught my eye. I decided to recreate one of the dresses in the piece as a card along with combining the lettering in the layout of the newsletter. So I did.

Here’s my finished product.

Day 327: Aching to work on creative projects

I am home, in my pj’s waiting, and I’m aching to work on creative projects today.

My creative juices are running high right now.

I really want to finish making some new necklaces that I’ve been working on, but I need Satin ribbon. I bought Grosgrain ribbon, but it doesn’t stay tied because of the groves. Satin ribbons ties easily and is really pretty.

Here’s a picture of the necklace I made for myself just recently.

There are two more necklaces that I’m in the middle of working on right now, but I need ribbon in order to finish them.

But at least I have my knitting to fall back on, and two shadowboxes that I still need to work on and finish. I spent time months ago working on the first one, but put it aside because I couldn’t fit all the elements into the 11 x  14 shadowbox. So, I guess I can try working on my shadowboxes for a little while. Maybe I’ll be inspired with a layout that I like and works effectively.

Anyhow, let’s move onto the Thank You card.

Again, today’s card is inspired by a chalk board drawing. No surprise there.

I’m getting more comfortable designing chalk board style, but I don’t think it’s my favorite.

Anyway, here it is.

Day 326: Knitting is changing my life

Okay, I’m hooked on knitting.

I wasn’t sure if I would like it or keep up with it, but I find myself wanting to knit because it’s fun, and I’m relaxed.

There’s something therapeutic about knitting. It’s peaceful. I feel calm when I knit.

I think it’s changing me. Eek.

Anyhow, it’s late so I should move on to today’s Thank You card which is again inspired by a chalk board drawing.

Day 325: Keep the finish line in sight

There are only 40 more days left until this design challenge comes to a close.

And I can’t wait because I’m ready for a break and something new to do with my time.

Don’t get me wrong, I love what I do and creating graphics, but I need a change. I’m just not sure yet what they will be. I might get back into sketching, but I don’t know. The idea or ideas will come when I least expect it.

Anyhow, today’s card is finished and it is inspired by a chalk board drawing. I’m slowly starting to get more comfortable with chalk board design. I still don’t feel like I’ve mastered it yet, but I do feel more confident in my work.

Okay, here it is.

Day 324: Explore new creative outlets

I’ve taken up knitting now.

A good friend said she could teach me how to knit in 30 minutes. It took me 40.

I like knitting, surprisingly. It’s a new challenge and relaxing.

So, now I can add knitting to the list of my creative talents such as:

  • Arts & Crafts
  • Cross-stitch
  • Drawing (Charcoal, conté crayon, pencil, graphite, prima color pencil, alpha hi grays, chalk pastel)
  • Jewelry making
  • Knitting
  • Latch-hook
  • Needlepoint
  • Painting (Acrylic, mixed media, oil)
  • Scrapbooking

I still need to learn how to do glass blowing, pottery, and sculpture. At least that’s what I can think of for now.

Anyhow, here is today’s card inspired by a chalk board drawing. Yes, I decided to tackle chalk board drawing again. I’m determined to master this form of design, but I don’t know how long it will take me. As the old saying goes, “practice makes perfect”. So, practice I must do.

Day 323: Drained but still determined

I am so drained right now that I’m about to head to bed.

I woke up tired and had a headache all afternoon and evening, and I’ve taken aspirin to relieve it. However, it hasn’t helped.

Although I am drained, I am still determined to create a Thank You card which is inspired by a stop sign light.

I need sleep. Good Night.

Day 322: Spend time with friends for a pick me up

There are going to be days when you’re feeling down and out, and nothing will seem like it can give you the pick me up you need to feel better.

Yeah, there are plenty of bad vices out there that can help, temporarily. However, is that really a good idea? Do you really want to feel the repercussions for your actions? Is it really worth it in the long run?

A better way to make yourself feel better and get a good pick me up is to spend time with friends.

You don’t even have to spend any money! You could watch a game on T.V. or a movie, make dinner at home and just sit back and talk, go shopping, and the list goes on and on.

I took my own advice and spent time with some friends tonight, and I feel so much better. Just being our good company lifted my spirits and helped me see things from a new perspective.

Now, onto the card!

I decided that I wasn’t in the mood to venture out in another chalk board design today. So instead, I was inspired by a can of Aqua Net Hairspray.

As I was trolling Pinterest tonight, I noticed that a lot of the pictures on my feed that had to do with either food or the 80s. I felt so fat and hungry looking at the food pictures, and old when I saw items from the 80s that I used to own and wear! Boy…now I’m just showing my age.

Okay, let’s just move on and skip to today’s Thank You card.
