Day 336: Make use of your free time

Today I woke up with every intention for getting some stuff done, but that changed when I woke up later than I expected.

Apparently I was so tired that I overslept!

I didn’t even remember turning my alarm off this morning. Usually I turn it off and fall back asleep for another 30 minutes because I am NOT a morning person.

The 30 minutes turned into a hour! So, I decided to cancel my morning plans and go back to sleep for another hour, which turned into two and a half hours.

I think that was my body’s way of saying “Stacy, you really need to rest. So, just go back to sleep and have a lazy day doing whatever you want.”

And I did.

With my free time today I decided to design a Thank You card instead of waiting until the end of the day when I’m probably going to be exhausted from doing nothing.

While trolling Pinterest for design ideas, I found some new fonts that I didn’t have on my laptop. So, I added them to font collection and was inspired by a web graphic for today’s Thank You card. I loved the color palate of soft blue, pink, green, and orange and how the graphic used different font faces for the text.

Taking what was already created in the graphic, I put my own twist on it using the same color palate but arranging the boxes differently in the layout. I also used two new fonts that I downloaded earlier in the design.

Here it is.

Day 328: A day off equals a slow start

Today is Thanksgiving, and that means I don’t have to work!!! Wooo Hooo!!! 🙂

So, I took advantage of my day off and slept in. I didn’t get up until 12:15 p.m., and it felt great!

I am NOT a morning person by any means. If you don’t believe, just ask my parents.

Even though I get up almost every day at 7:00 a.m., you would think my body would be used to getting up early and adjust.

You are so wrong! Night owls will never be morning people, so don’t try to force us to become them. Creatives are creatures of habit and we function better working with a lot of background noise (either T.V. blaring from the living or jamming to our favorite radio stations on Pandora), and usually wake up around 2:00 p.m..

My creativity usually peaks around 4:00 p.m., and if needed, I can keep going until 2:00 a.m.. I am a night owl, so don’t wake me up!

Anyhow, I have some things to get done before I head out later, so let’s move onto today’s card which is inspired by an email newsletter.

I wasn’t in the mood to create another Thank You card chalk board drawing design today. I felt like I needed some color today, so I started looking at Pinterest for some colorful ideas and stumbled onto an email newsletter that caught my eye. I decided to recreate one of the dresses in the piece as a card along with combining the lettering in the layout of the newsletter. So I did.

Here’s my finished product.

Day 325: Keep the finish line in sight

There are only 40 more days left until this design challenge comes to a close.

And I can’t wait because I’m ready for a break and something new to do with my time.

Don’t get me wrong, I love what I do and creating graphics, but I need a change. I’m just not sure yet what they will be. I might get back into sketching, but I don’t know. The idea or ideas will come when I least expect it.

Anyhow, today’s card is finished and it is inspired by a chalk board drawing. I’m slowly starting to get more comfortable with chalk board design. I still don’t feel like I’ve mastered it yet, but I do feel more confident in my work.

Okay, here it is.

Day 307: The fog is gone and I’m back to normal

I woke up today feeling great!

No fog or tiredness, and I took advantage of all the energy I had and got so many things accomplished today! 🙂

I was planning to have a Thank You card created earlier today, but I got sidetracked with a couple of projects. So, I managed to finish it at the end of the day when I should be in bed right now because I am tired.

So here it goes. Today’s card is inspired by a WordPress website and it’s kind of plain and simple, but I think makes a statement.

Good Night.

Day 254: Happiness brings joy and blessings

I had a really great day today, and I want it to keep going.

So many good things happened today that it’s brought me joy and blessings. I just hope it doesn’t stop anytime soon.

The point that I’m trying to make is be happy because it WILL bring you joy and blessing.

Anyway, onto the card for today which is inspired by a logo. It was drawn to it because it didn’t look like the typical layout for a logo. Logos have a few basic layouts: an icon to the left of text, an icon above text, and an icon in a shape with text surrounding it. The look of a logo changes when a font, color, layout, icon, and design style are selected giving it it’s own distinctive identity.

For my design, I just recreated the design into a card and added several other elements to make it my own.

Day 157: June gloom was back today

I woke up to sunny skies, and then about 20 minutes later the gray clouds rolled in to hang out for an unexpected visit.

I wasn’t happy about the cloud cover especially since it brought in cooler temperatures!

We’ve got less than 20 days until summer officially starts and I want warm, sunny weather. Is that too much to ask?

Anyhow, sorry if my posts have sounded like I’ve been complaining and cranky more than normal. I’m changing my diet and have excluded sugar, white flour, processed foods, some dairy and grains to get my body back in shape and feel better. So my moods are probably due to the fact that I’m suffering from a lack of sugar. It might take a while for the sugar to vacate my body, so I apologize in advance for any moodiness on my part.

And I know my posts haven’t exactly been thrilling to read as how I find the inspiration for each card, but I’m usually working on a time crunch.

I do have something important to get done, however, a card has been created for today. This one is inspired by pillows that were propped up on a green couch. I was drawn to the color palate and mixture of patterns.

I hope you like it.

Day 124: Learning to find inspiration, again

Last month I spent every day creating a card for Autism Awareness, and now that it’s over I need to find my inspiration, again, so my creativity doesn’t run dry. I just hope that I can keep up with it!

I think I can, I think I can.

Anyway, today’s inspiration is from one of my favorite websites, Pinterest. Check out my boards here: Stacy’s Pinterest Boards
